JOB SUMMARY:
Manage and coordinate varied activities of Corporate computerized
multi-state payroll department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage relationships with external payroll service bureauÂ
(ProBusiness), including contract negotiations, change requests,
service levels, etc.
- Manage escalation process for tier 3 issues requiring in-house
resolution.
- Coordinate with Human Resources Department; interpret company
policies, government regulations and union contracts in connection with
payroll procedures.
- Coordinate time schedules with regard to payroll processing and
outside service to ensure timeliness of output and distribution of data
to the field as well as continuity of workflow within the
department.
- Participate in the establishment of department goals and the
implementation of procedures and performance standards to achieve those
goals; manage, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the activities of
department staff directly or through subordinate supervisors.
- Be responsible for the employment, promotion, employee
performance evaluation, training, motivation, counseling and discipline
of assigned employees.
- Maintain communications and resolve problems with the corporate
departments, field personnel, outside data-processing personnel,
auditors and various agencies.
- Manage company mergers, acquisitions and divestitures
specifically related to payroll processing.
- Manage set up of new imports and exports as well as updates to
the Payroll Process Flow documents.
- Direct the review of personnel records for accuracy of name, rate
of pay, new hire data, change in rate and position for input to
computerized payroll system.
- Direct and/or assist in the preparation of Federal and State
government tax reports, as well as completing other miscellaneous
reports requiring payroll data. Release disbursements, maintain
filesand research inquiries related to these reports.
- Coordinate and assist in distribution and reconciliation of
annual reports, including W-2 forms and year-end report
requirements.

Requirements: |
| |
- Under graduate degree in finance and accounting.
- Seven to Ten years payroll experience within a union environment,
with at least five years computerized and multi-state experience.
- Seven, plus years supervisory experience.
- Strong accounting and payroll accounting skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both written and
orally, in one-on-one and group-presentation situations. Ability to
interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.
- Ability to resolve issues with flexibility and initiative.
- Ability to work well under pressure independently, perform and
manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills. Ability to
update and maintain current information. Ability to maintain control
over interruptions and achieve maximum time-effectiveness.
- Ability to understand company, department and customer needs,
issues and concerns.
- As required by position, ability to travel for extended
periods.
- Ability to remain current on business, market or technological
trends
- Ability to read and interpret data reports. Ability to understand
and perform data analysis.
