Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Corporate
Controller of this $1B public company, the Assistant Controller will
have responsibility for coordinating financial accounting activities
that ensure the integrity of the company's general ledger and
consolidation, and will assist in the proper financial management of
the
business. The Assistant Controller will have responsibility for
ensuring that the company remains current and compliant with U.S. GAAP,
SEC, and Sarbanes-Oxley developments. In addition, this key role will
be a true business partner to the SVP-Controller and EVP - CFO, and
will
work with operating business units to help optimize strategic and
tactical decision-making.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the general ledger,
including the consolidation of multiple business units.
- Manage the monthly financial close process, which includes managing
system interfaces to the general ledger. This includes managing team
members responsible for the General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Accounts
Payable, Consolidation, and Lease Accounting.
- Research and implement complex SEC accounting and financial
reporting issues.
- Ensure proper financial controls are maintained throughout the
company and its business units, including partnering with Internal
Audit
to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Serve as a liason between the Corporate Finance department and the
operating business units, providing accounting and financial guidance
where needed.
- Manage the accounting activities for significant estimates, such as
Workers Compensation insurance, working with actuaries, benefits, etc.
- Leverage technology and effectively use information systems and
tools to generate financial reports and provide senior executives with
analytical support to drive decision making.
- Will represent the Controller's organization in a cross-functional
team implementing an Oracle ERP optimization project.
- Serve as a business partner to the Controller and the CFO;
involvement with management reporting and analytics.
- Coordinate requirements with the company's external
auditors.Special
projects and financial analysis/modeling as required.
- Managing and developing more junior team members.

Requirements: |
| |
- Bachelor's degree & CPA required; MBA or CFA desired but not
required.
- Minimum 5 Years Big Four Experience required.
- Expertise with US GAAP, SEC, and Sarbanes-Oxley required.
- Track record of implementing new accounting pronouncements.
- Minimum 8 years overall experience required; prefer a mix of public
accounting and private company experience.
- Strong analytic/quantitative skills required.
- Strong MRP system "best practice" skills. Process transformation
experience desired. Proficient with Excel and Powerpoint.
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills required.
- Leadership skills/potential for advancement.
- Experience with a major accounting/ERP system.
- Experience with implementing a new system or upgrading an existing
system is desired.
- Should be quick learner and self starter who has the ability to
work
both independently and within a team environment and is accustomed to
working with deadlines.
- Desire to work in a dynamic, nimble, entrepreneurial, empowered
environment, yet one that is committed to best practice and to
upholding
the expectations of an SEC registrant.
