Position Reports to: Vice President of Tax
Summary: The Tax Director is responsible for overseeing all
tax
compliance and tax planning functions for the Company, including
federal
and state income, tangible and intangible property, gross receipts,
annual reports, sales, use, license, excise, franchise, employment,
transfer, and other taxes. The Director is also responsible for
researching and interpreting tax laws in all jurisdictions in which the
Company operates or intends to operate in order to comply with the laws
of the jurisdictions and to aid in overall tax planning for the
Company.
The Director is responsible for calculating the Company's overall
effective tax rate and preparing all disclosures necessary to comply
with FAS 109. Duties include supervising staff and developing processes
and internal controls; reviewing federal and state corporate income tax
returns, quarterly estimated payments and other tax payments;
projecting
cash flows for income tax payments; responding to various taxing
authority notices; performing due diligence in mergers and
acquisitions;
and directing federal and state audits.
Specific Job Functions:
- Due diligence in mergers and acquisitions.
- Direct/review all tax return compliance, including workpapers.
- Review calculations of estimates, payments.
- Research as needed for compliance.
- Research as requested by Management.
- Maintain Tax Compliance Systems.
- Calculate the Company's deferred and current taxes and effective
tax
rate; maintain Company's gross temporary differences by entity and
jurisdiction.
- Manage maintenance of tax basis fixed assets.
- Direct, create, install, analyze and document tax controls.
- Direct state and federal audits.
- Direct outside tax advisors in various projects.
- Tax planning in order to maximize favorable cash flow, reduce
effective rate, and reduce tax expense.
- Direct maintenance of corporate legal data.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Position supervises Tax Analyst
- Senior Tax Analyst
- Tax Supervisor Tax Administrator

Requirements: |
| |
- BS degree; masters and/or CPA desirable.
- 7+ years experience managing all tax functions.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, automated tax preparation, general
ledger, and depreciation software experience required.
- Ability to work independently.
